Location impacts on ESD envelope - drift speed

Cryosafe have previously talked about getting the emergency shut down envelope correct, which is critical to a safe LNG ship to ship transfer or bunkering. Assessing the location and weather conditions plays a key role in making sure, that in the event of a drift off, the safety systems work efficiently.

The impact these parameters have on the ESD2 event, and the envelope are significant:

Example simulated STS in open water or dynamic location - ESD1 in 8secs, ESD2 in 26 secs, Hose tight position in 38secs

Example simulated STS in sheltered benign location - ESD1 in 60secs, ESD2 in 3mins, Hose tight in 4mins
