LNG bunkering stations - Why connection space should be the focus

For any ship owner that are building alternative fuelled vessels the SGMF have released an addendum (manifold arrangements for gas-fueled vessels) that is a must read. This has been published as the main focus and attention has been placed on the presentation flange to ship side dimension rather than how much space is available to make a connection. The areas that are being recommended for additional focus are:

  • Distance from presentation flange to saddle or hose support

  • Is this distance sufficient for reducers/QCDC/short distance pieces that will be required for the supply vessels you are considering?

  • Have you considered the distance required for the hose? Many are not aware of the additional distance required.

Cryosafe has provided design and operational support to many LNG fuelled vessel companies (container ships/car carriers/cruise ships/cargo vessels). For enquires on the services we offer in LNG bunkering please contact gw@cryosafe.co.uk.
