bunkering compatibility challenges.

LNG Ship to ship transfers have evolved from the bulk carrier market from 2006. Back then once you had completed compatibility studies for a few standard sized carriers your work was pretty much done. Bunkering has changed the compatibility game…… the frequency of operations….. the range of locations/port authorities …… and the variety (and non-standardisation) of receiving ships means that compatibility studies are now more complex and regular. The crew of CryoSafe have been developing, and running, these studies from the very first LNG bunkering vessel and have been evolving them ever since. The elements which cause operators most headaches are QCDCs, bunker manifold assessments, cargo condition & pressure drop, confirming ESD set points and disconnection/purge times. From the operations we have been a part of, one of the most critical elements is ensuring that the crews from both vessels have a consistent level of familiarisation of the equipment and the procedures. CryoSafe can train your crews on the vessel equipment that they will be interacting with.
