LNG Ship to ship transfers have evolved from the bulk carrier market from 2006. Back then once you had completed compatibility studies for a few standard sized carriers your work was pretty much done. Bunkering has changed the compatibility game…… the frequency of operations….. the range of locations/port authorities …… and the variety (and non-standardisation) of receiving ships means that compatibility studies are now more complex and regular.
